David Letterman Working at the McDonalds Drive Through
This is a classic and one of my favourite ever sketches.
Dave needs to go on Twitter more often.
He’s not letting it go. Dave will not allow Tracy to skate out of this.
Jesus christ, THIS is why I ADORE THIS MAN. Anyone who’s ever questioned why Dave is the best, FUCK YOU, watch this.
There’s a great article in Rolling Stone this week about the first year of David Letterman’s NBC show and how it revolutionized the talk show format. I found this video the other day and I think it’s a perfect example of what the article talks about. They did an opening that was this absurd in only the 9th episode, during a time when the only thing people had seen was Carson’s tight format of monologue, sketch, and interview. Jon Stewart might win all the awards but he and all the talk show hosts know that they owe a lot to Letterman.
This. THIS is why Dave will always hold a high place in my bitter little black heart, why he has been the one I’ve adored and admired longest of any host, of any COMEDIAN, PERIOD. While it may seem fairly standard now, one must understand that nobody had done things the way David Letterman and his folk did them back in the day. Dave was and is my very first comedy love, and I owe him far more than I can ever repay.
How do I know I’m becoming a Potterfan?
When I’m watching The Late Show and thinking, “Ha, Dave’s tie looks like Gryffindor colors.”
This is a slippery slope, isn’t it…?
This happens tonight and I just saw a promo for it. I love them both so hard. I live for this shit. For me, it’s going to be fangirl crack of the highest order.
And then on Friday, Craigy is going to be on the Regis & Kelly show. I never watch it, but it’s been well-established that I will follow Craig Ferguson anywhere. Even to daytime television.
I like this week.
The one who started it all. I owe this man my love of comedy, my love of late night, and by extension, my life. If you think I’m exaggerating or that sounds melodramatic, do fuck right off.
